I am always trying to soak up information about personal finance and the author of “The Automatic Millionaire” David Bach writes some great articles on Yahoo Finance. I have been reading through a few of these today and they are very informative.

Microsoft Money I sent Microsoft an e-mail about wanting to partner with them to help them sell Microsoft Money and offer discounts to people that actually read through my site which isn’t many right now. But anyhow, I got an email back from them that totally surprised me. They said they only affiliate with financial institutions at the time, but they would send out a free copy of Money Deluxe 2006 and had to just provide them with a mailing address. Well I get home from work today and what do you know? Microsoft Money Deluxe 2006 is waiting for me on my doorstep. I was like wow thats pretty neat. So I went upstairs to my computer, installed it and started plugging in all my accounts, tried out there budget tool and so on. So far I think the program is pretty neat although sometimes it is hard to connect to your accounts automatically and I have found you have to download files from say your bank’s website to import into MS Money. But the budget tool is cool and is very customizable and gives you warnings when you are approaching or over budget on say clothing for the month. So far so good, if I have any nags about it I will let yall know.

I thought since I took advantage of all these great offers then why not share it with people that might be interested. I have opened up a sharebuilder account, my webhost is yahoo, I have an INGDirect savings account, I use google products and services (firefox, picasa, google earth, adsense). Best of all none of this has costed me a thing! Now sharebuilder doesn’t cost to fund the account and the only fees are when you trade stocks but hey they are cheap!

Well I think everyone else should take advantage so if you are interested click the following link. WHYNOT?

Well it was the end of a premium and the beginning of a new premium for my auto insurance. I have had allstate since I started driving and every time a had a new premium it went down. Well not this time. I noticed that I would be paying an extra 40 dollars a month and I didnt have a ticket or any kind of violation and I was like whoaaa!!! So I contacted my insurance company and they looked into it yesterday. Well I get a call back from them today and they said ooooops it was an error on our part! I wish I knew what kind of error it was but I didn’t ask. So just a little tip for everyone check your premiums and if you notice they are higher call your Insurance company. By doing this I saved $240.00 for 6 months.

Dividing up my assets… May 15, 2006

Ok I am now at a point where I can start saving my money instead of spending it on bills etc.  As I mentioned in an earlier post I decided on opening up some different investment accounts (which was also a goal as well).  I opened up Sharebuilder for a brokerage and Emigrantdirect.com for a savings account (4.5%).  Well now I have decided that every Monday I am going to divide up my cash in my checking account to these accounts, and here is the plan I came up with.

Now to avoid fees im not going to purchase stocks every week though.  I will wait until I have enough money raised to make a realistic investment into different stocks.  I think $500.00 is appropriate to invest in a stock/etf fund.  So when I say 70% will go to Sharebuilder it will, but it will sit in there money market fund that earns a little bit of interest until you decide to purchase stocks.  I will go into detail about how I decided to purchase the stocks/funds I did and have an update of how my investment portfolio is going.  So keep tuned in..
